New Porsche 911 Received Red Dot Design Award

The new Porsche 911 and the previous Porsche 911 look the different from many angles but, for many people they look exactly the same. I kind of agree with those people, new 911 looks exactly the same as before.

Nothing really changed but it looks better, especially I like the new design of rear automatic rising spoiler.
When it is in stationary position, you never realise the spoiler, it looks seamless! Also, when it is raised, it is perfect matching with the exterior design. However many people may never realise this. Except some!

Recently new Porsche 911 receives design award from Red Dot. 30-strong international jury of experts suggest that; new 911 has a “unique” design language that is sourced by the functional and emotional design factors. Moreover, new 911 combines the innovation and tradition, power and elegance.

Actually, I am really impressed with the Red Dot jury! For many people, new 911 looks the same! I really don’t like to say this and it is a bit harsh but this is the reality. Not only 911 looks the same; the new Bentley Continental, the new Audi A3 and many other new cars try not to scare their existing customers by offering something totally different. Reference to this incident; previous BMW 3 Series by Chris Bangle! It was a big shock for everyone.

Anyway, I still like the new 911 and I don’t mind whether it looks the same or not. In the end, that’s a Porsche 911.

BMW i8 Coupe (2014)

CAR GARAGE | BMW i8 Coupe (2014) | We've seen dramatic coupe this at Various auto shows, first at Frankfurt in 2009 and now, most recently, at the 2012 New York Auto Show. The BMW i8 concept has evolved over the years, but still sports many design elements have little chance That at production. Score one for the BMW design team. The front fascia Appears remarkably similar to the concept's, Including the aerodynamic-looking vent in the nose of the car. Thankfully, the elegant sweep of the C-pillar, the which extends over the rear fenders and onto the trunk, where it doubles as a rear wing, is also present. BMW has Stated That lightweight materials, Such as aluminum and carbon fiber, will constitute a large percentage of the i8's structure.

Beneath the striking bodywork is an electric motor driving the front wheels, while a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder gasoline engine is coupled to the rears. The combined output of 354 horsepower is enough to hustle this 2 +2 coupe from zero to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds, According to BMW's calculations. Capable of running purely on electric power for short-distance estimated at 20 to 30 miles-the i8 should be capable of returning fuel economy of roughly 80 mpg. A roadster variant has also been Revealed, but BMW maintains it's merely a design study, a working convertible top was not factored into the initial concept.

BMW i3 (2014)

CAR GARAGE | BMW i3 (2014) | Like the i8 "eco supercar," the 2014 BMW i3 employs a new weight-efficient type of construction called Life Drive. This consists of an upper "Life" module - meaning the passenger cell - and a lower "Drive" module or chassis That carries the powertrain, battery array, suspension, steering, and brakes.  Unlike the all-electric Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid with front-wheel Their drive trains, the 2014 BMW i3 employs a compact AFT-mounted power package to drive the rear wheels. The i3 concept Suggests the production models will stand 4.7 inches longer, 12.8 inches and 5.2 inches Taller Wider than a 2-door Mini Cooper on a 4.1-inch longer wheelbase. Each body comprises i3 That Several CFRP sections are formed by a new low-cost BMW process.

As noted, the 2014 BMW i3 will be Offered in "pure" EV and "Rex" range-extender hybrid versions. The former should be technically close to the all-electric concept, the which Carried a BMW-developed brush-less motor some 40 percent smaller than the Mini E unit. BMW has not yet Stated weight or power for the i3 battery pack, but Car and Driver estimates at roughly 21 kWh capacity. BMW quotes typical driving range at 80-100 miles, the which is on par with the larger Nissan Leaf. Top speed is electronically capped at 93 mph to prolong battery charge. A Leaf-like driver-selectable "Eco-PRO" mode provides Stronger regen, limits throttle response and reduces power to electrical accessories.

While BMW claims the extender doubles the i3's range to about 190 miles, Thus Spake eliminating the range anxiety from the electric-car equation, it also eliminates some practicality as the engine, generator, and fuel tank Reduced the [normal] 7-cubic-foot cargo space to something far less useful. "On the other hand, BMW claims both power packs do not impinge on passenger space. As for the rest of the 2014 BMW i3 chassis, it's made largely of aluminum and includes energy-absorbing front and rear sections for crash-protection, supplementing the CFRP body is inherently strong. The suspension comprises front struts and rear multilink geometry, both traditional BMW fare.  Motor Trend notes BMW's claim That the "i3's electric powertrain weighs about 440 pounds more than a similar combustion setup, but its 550 pounds thanks Life Drive architecture" versus a comparably sized conventional car while Providing equal or superior rigidity.

The 2014 BMW i3 is a battery-powered premium-subcompact car and the first retail electric vehicle (EV) ever Offered by the world's top-selling premium auto brand. The latter, the which BMW calls a "Rex," adds a small gasoline engine / generator kicks in to extend That driving range once the battery pack runs low. To be sold only as a 4-door hatchback, the i3 joins the Slinky i8 plug-in hybrid sports coupe in the launch of BMW's "i" sub-brand That is planned to host a broader lineup of advanced-technology EVs, hybrids, and range-extender hybrids, all specially designed for electric propulsion instead of being adapted from conventionally powered vehicles.

BMW says both i-cars will go on sale in 2013, the which means Likely 2014-model U.S. debuts. It will be another range-extender hybrid with an i8-style powertrain layout. Earlier results of the multifaceted development effort included the gas / electric "ActiveHybrid" options for the X6 premium-midsize SUV and 7-Series premium-large sedan, an all-electric Mini E based on BMW's small British-built 2-door hatchback, and a more-advanced "Active E" version of the company's 1-Series premium-compact coupe. BMW did, however, preview the i8 "eco supercar" with the 2009 Vision Efficient Dynamics concept.

BMW X4 (2015)

CAR GARAGE | BMW X4 (2015) | First, it's said to have the personal backing of BMW CEO Reithofer Nortbert. As Germany-based reporter Greg Kable notes, BMW had projected modest worldwide sales of 20.000 per year, but moved over 80.000 X6s Between the Model's end-of-2008 and summer 2010 launch.  Object: higher per-vehicle profits. So now BMW's U.S. plant will have plenty of room to build X4s alongside X3s, X5s, and X6s.

Engines for North America should involve the X3's pair of 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder: a 240-horsepower base version and a single-turbo unit with 300 horses. Both engines may incorporate BMW's Brake Energy Regeneration System, the which is Basically a "smart" alternator drive except when coasting That decouples and braking to Eliminate a source of fuel-wasting engine drag. An X6 Active Hybrid-style option is an outside prospect somewhere down the road.  It's Basically the same engine destined for a 1-Series M Coupe That will soon join BMW's premium-compact-car line.  Also like the latest X3, the 2015 BMW X4 will pair an 8-speed automatic transmission with both mainstream 6-cylinder engines. A 4-cylinder models BMW would substitute Likely's 7-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission), a dual-clutch automated manual That behaves much like a conventional automatic.

Predictably, the 2015 BMW X4 will inherit the X3's basic 4-wheel independent suspension with front struts and rear multi-link geometry, but with everything tuned for sportier moves a la X6. Of course, BMW's usual alphabet soup of computerized driving aids will be on hand. Among them is Dynamic Drive Control with Dynamic Damper Control. An electronic chassis-tailoring system like Audi's Drive Select, it alters transmission, throttle, suspension, steering, and antiskid-system responses to suit different driving needs. Dynamic Damper Control involves auto-adjusting shock absorbers automatically stiffen That in hard cornering within driver-selected Normal, Sport, and "Sport +" settings. Bundled with all this is BMW's Performance Control, the which brakes individual wheels and modulates the throttle as needed to keep the vehicle on course. It also resets the AWD's front / rear torque split from the normal 40/60 percent to 20/80, this to Simulate the dynamic response of a well-balanced rear-drive vehicle.

Standard chassis features of the 2015 BMW X4 will include large 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS, BMW's DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) anti skid system with traction control, and speed-sensitive Servotronic power steering with electric-motor assist as another fuel-saver.  Also Likely to be on the options list is BMW Connected Drive, the brand's new mobile-Internet system on board That allows reading e-mails on the iDrive screen dashboard when stopped or hearing messages (by synthesized voice) while driving. That bodes well for the 2015 BMW X4, the which prove Could even more popular Because of the Greater agility and fuel-thrift implied by its smaller size and reduced weight. (The X6 Active Hybrid uses a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8.) It's also Offered in the 7-Series premium large-sedan and will undoubtedly be extended to other BMW series in the not-too-distant future. What about a diesel option for the 2015 BMW X4? It's possible, Especially as the company already offers an excellent 50-state-legal 3.0-liter 6-cylinder turbo diesel in the 335d premium-compact sedan and X5 xDrive 35d-premium midsize SUV.

Longer BMW 3-Series

In last five years, China became one of the most powerful economy. From mobile phone to shoes, they manufacture everything. Their economy is growing without any stop or pause, as a result of this growing economy their demand to vehicles are unbelievable.

One decade ago, US was the major market for automotive industry and their demand was shaping the faith of the vehicles. Now, US is still a key player but, when Chinese demands for a vehicle, it stays on production or it will be produced for them. Like long-wheel base BMW 3-Series!

In China, many passenger vehicles are offered with long-wheel base option from Ford Mondeo to BMW 5-Series. Chinese market is concentrated on passenger-focused travel and many rich Chinese likes to be driven! Therefore, they need more legs room at rear seats. Unfortunately, European models are not that generous for rear seats and this is not welcomed by Chinese.

Thus, automotive companies started to manufacture long-wheel base for most their models just for China. And recently, BMW revealed the new 3-Series long-wheel base. This is the same 3-Series with extra 11cm at the rear. Some people may think, why they don’t offer this in Europe or US? They won’t because, when 3-Series is longer, many people will not buy 5-Series. In China? The market is so big and demanding, each model has its own customer. If you are willing to change a shape of a car, try to increase your population :)

BMW Z2 (2015)

CAR GARAGE | BMW Z2 (2015) | One British source projects a near-$ 41,000 base price at current exchange rates. As a result, says Auto Bild, the Z2 will Boast a uni body made of costlier high-strength-steel, plus an aluminum-plastic composite hood and trunk lid and front fenders. Weight-watching also explains the convertible's folding soft top, the which may be manual, though power operation is sure to be available. We've seen conflicting intel on 2015 BMW Z2 power trains - understandable, as BMW has Lately been cooking up enough new engines to confuse outsiders. The Z2 will be Offered initially with a pair of turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engines.

For Reasons of cost and simplicity, both engines should couple to a 6-speed manual transmission and a torque-converter automatic. Predictably, there's already talk of a high-performance variant developed by BMW's M Division in-house "tuner" operation. This "Z2 M" Likely would mate the company's new "N55" 300-horsepower turbocharged 3.0-liter 6-cylinder to the 7-speed DCT dual-clutch automated manual transmission now fitted to the iconic M3 sports coupe. That transmission behaves much like a traditional torque-converter automatic. The result should be one small rapid sports car - assuming it Happens, as we think it eventually will. Auto Bild's reporting confirms the 2015 BMW Z2 That will offer one or more of the brand's fuel-saving "Efficient Dynamics" features. These would include a "smart" That decouples the alternator drive from the engine except when coasting or braking; engine idle-stop and brake-energy-recuperation systems, as on many gas / electric hybrids; even an up shift indicator light to temper fuel-wasting lead foot driving.

BMW's new "sharknose" face should be evident, and rolling stock will be sized to fill the wheel arches. We'd look for 17-inch wheels as standard, optional 18S, both Shod with BMW's now-customary run-flat tires.Being based on the F20 platform, the 2015 BMW Z2 will feature the expected 4-wheel independent suspension, here comprising front struts, rear multilink geometry, and an anti-roll bar at each end. Brakes will naturally be 4-wheel discs with ABS and an integrated BMW Dynamic Stability Control anti skid system with traction control. BMW's Dynamic Drive Control electronic chassis tailoring and other driving aids should be available, but Perhaps not every one in the corporate cupboard, again for Reasons of cost and simplicity.

The 2015 BMW Z2 Z4 Will Likely offer many features, though again probably not all, for Reasons of cost and weight. Likely Options will include the aforementioned power seats, windows, and top, plus xenon headlamps; key less entry / engine start; regular and M Sport packages with uprated suspension, larger wheels, and specific styling touches; navigation system; heated seats; and wood or aluminum cockpit trim. In all, the 2015 BMW Z2 Strikes us as a promising new small sports car That Could give the ever-popular Miata a run for its money, even if it's more money to begin with. As far as we know, the 2015 BMW Z2 will not have any game-changer Innovations, although the magnesium engine block and drive shaft reported by Auto Bild would be remarkable for a lower-end sports car and a number of high-dollar rides too .
