Marisa Miller features in Buick Commercial

Supermodel Marisa Miller features in Buick commercial. Marisa Miller is well-known from the annually hold Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. She also features in Sports Illustrated and many other fashion magazines.
Buick; everyone knows this brand for ages. But never initiates any emotions with anyone. As a matter of fact, it is only available in some markets, mostly American. So, it is really impossible to spot a Buick around Europe. This brand is neither beautiful nor ugly. It is in the middle, a good vehicle to go from A to B.

Marisa features in Buick’s facelifted luxury crossover (This means it is not an SUV or an estate, it is in the middle) Enclave. Unfortunately, Enclave does not provide any competitive features. 3.6-lt V6 petrol engine only produces 292 PS and 366 nm of torque. In the meantime, Volkswagen Golf R produces 265 PS and 345 nm of torque from a turbo charged 2-lt petrol engine. The engine of Enclave is not impressive. Also, its 6-speed auto gearbox as well.

Unfortunately, LED day light lamps also do not provide extra points. Okay, it looks nice for a Buick and really big that's all. I really don’t like to say this but Marisa Miller creates the word-of-mouth in this commercial, sorry!

The commercial can be watched after 14th May, Monday.

Jaguar XJ with 2-lt Turbo Engine

Jaguar XJ with 2-lt four-cylinder turbo petrol engine. You didn’t read anything wrong or I didn’t type anything wrong! Jaguar is the first car company to offer a large saloon with a 2-lt petrol engine. This is a new path in automotive industry; for many years large saloons were offered with massive engines. At those years, there were no problems with fuel price, tight taxation and emission. However, things have changed and companies started to downsize their engines. First, Mercedes offered 2.2-lt diesel engine in current S-Class (a competitor of XJ) and now Jaguar reduced the size up to 2-lt but runs with petrol. For many people, these engines are insufficient, not fast enough and etc etc. However, things have changed. If you can surf on internet from your mobile phone, you shouldn’t complaining about the downsized engines. These engines provide the same level of performance with lower fuel consumption.

Jaguar’s new 2-lt turbocharged engine produces 240 PS of power and 340 nm of torque. These figures used to be found in 3-lt engines. Now, thanks to turbo chargers and reduces friction inside the engine, a 2-lt pocket size engine can provide this huge amount of power.

So what will happen? If Jaguar can manage to market this car properly in emerging markets like Turkey, Russia, China where the car taxation is really high. Many people will buy Jaguar XJ instead of BMW 7-Series, Mercedes S-Class or Audi A8. If you are not obsessed with German car’s electronic gadgets and willing to pay lots of money for them, Jaguar XJ will definitely satisfy your needs!

This engine will also be available in Jaguar XF. What happens with engines are similar to this in fashion, moving from real leather to faux leather. And people does not stop buying Stella McCartney, because her shoes and bags are not from real leather!

Range Rover Evoque Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham’s limited edition Range Rover Evoque is finally revealed! As I mentioned yesterday, I was expecting to see something a bit catastrophic and hopefully I was wrong. Beckham’s edition looks really nice and there is no design bit that ruins the harmony. On the contrary, Beckham edition looks a bit muscular than feminine. Exterior matte finish black with black forged 20-inch wheels turns this limited edition into a really muscular car. I was expecting to see some flashy colours of this fashion season but Beckham did not wish to spoil the Evoque with contemporary fashion.

Interior looks way much better! The hand stitched vintage inspired leather seats are completed with rose gold-plated accents. And here we can see that, Victoria Beckham places her signature! There is one thing I never liked in a car, gold. Unfortunately, this very valuable material may not improve the harmony of a luxury vehicle, instead it sometimes ruin the harmony. However, Evoque Beckham is not covered with gold inside, and I did not see it with my own eyes. So, I don’t want to be so brutal while criticising but, I still consider it as a minus for this vehicle.

It did not finish yet, when you buy this limited to 200 Evoque, you will have also get a four pieces of Victoria Beckham leather luggage and a hand-sewn leather wallet for owner’s manual with her signature (I hope she signed them by herself, not a printed signature). When you consider the price Victoria Beckham’s fashion line, these four pieces of leather luggage is a bargain. If you would like to buy them from Net-A-Porter, you would definitely pay more money than an Evoque.

Unfortunately, Beckham’s limited edition is only available with coupe version. And that’s a pain when you wish to get onto rear seat. Because, it is impossible especially if someone is as tall as Victoria Beckham with skyscraper heels tries to get onto back seats, the result will be a fail!

In general, this car is way much better than I expected from Victoria Beckham. Unfortunately, they did not stop inspiring the Evoque from the fashion and they priced as £79,995 not £80,000. Sorry but it is very very expensive. You can buy a proper Range Rover or a Porsche 911 or Mercedes SL for this price. I know this is a limited edition and it has to be priced like this but this is too expensive, I am sorry!
