Louis Vuitton 2012 Fashion Show with Steam Smoke!

Today I want to share the Louis Vuitton’s Fall Autumn 2012 Fashion Show with lots of steam smoke! This year LV decided on a fashion show concept based on steam-powered train to create a retro feeling. Unfortunately, smoke was fake, it doesn’t have that real black coal burned ashes spraying all around! Honestly, it would be really funny to see that smoke was real and ashes were sprayed all over the place :)

My suggestion to LV, next time use a space shuttle. As the space shuttle are retired now, you can buy one for good price!

Thanks @alisveriscini for the support :)

A New Small Porsche

I like one thing with Porsche, even if you cannot afford to buy one, you can still buy a Porsche product from Porsche Design. I agree it does not give the same feeling but if you are into Porsche, their product would definitely satisfy you. This is similar to luxury handbag brands, like Louis Vuitton if you cannot afford to buy a decent size hand bag, they have other options to satisfy you. The other options are usually small leather goods but at least you have a LV!

Hopefully Porsche realised that, there are many people like me who are willing to own a Porsche but does not wish to save money for following next couple of decades. Or end up with Boxster, it is really a nice car but I would like to own a 911 or something with more Porsche genes. Eventually, Porsche is going to find a solution for this confusion. They recently announced that 550 Spyder will be built on 2014 summer. This car will be based on James Dean’s Porsche 550 Spyder and it will be powered by 1.6 litre engine that produces 200-horse power. 200 HP sounds really weak for a Porsche but don't forget old Porsche cars had small engines!

Honestly, if they revealed this car I would be happy to buy one. It will be a contemporary interpretation of the old version. It may not be very fast but I am pretty sure that, it will have the Porsche handling characteristics. This would help us to ignore the sufficient engine power. And it is not the first time Porsche offers a small car with small engine.

Price starts from 35000€ and this makes Spyder even more attractive! I know many people will buy it but still it is good have a Porsche like this.

Volkswagen CrossPassat matches with Louis Vuitton!

Again the same; VW is going to offer a taller Passat Estate and brand it as CrossPassat (Audi did it this by turning A6 Estate into A6 Allroad). It will probably have four-wheel drive and many plastic bumpers! Similar Audi A6 Allroader and BMW 5GT, I don't see an emotional reason to buy these vehicles.

On paper, this type of vehicles fills the gap between the SUV and the estate. These cars are not as high as SUV and more practically than usual estate. However, consumers never think like this and usual find vehicles like Audi A6 Allroad, BMW 5 GT and upcoming CrossPassat a bit odd! You can see this from the sales performance of Audi Allroad family and BMW 5GT. Unfortunately, a similar scenario may happen to VW CrossPassat. I wish it won’t happen but history tells the opposite.

The rendered picture of CrossPassat reminded me Louis Vuitton Zipped Totebag. It looks very similar to SUV-Estate cars. It offers different colours in the same bag! The black parts look like the black plastics of CrossPassat. Based on this product evaluation, I can see that Zipped Tote bag is as practical as a CrossPassat or Audi Allroader. If you are planning to you buy this type of car, you should also buy this bag.

CrossPassat in second picture is under heavy camouflage!

Future prediction for Louis Vuitton

Today I was not planning to post anything on my blog but thanks to Louis Vuitton, I changed my mind. I have just noticed the Louis Vuitton watches on GQ Magazine and I wondered who is making them! Unless the brand is not a watch manufacturer, someone is making it!

I am pretty sure with this case also. Louis Vuitton has an agreement with a company to produce this watch. And usually, that would be a division of Swatch. Interestingly, there is no information about this. It is only mentioned LV 119 movement and that’s all. Very descriptive. Also there is nothing on internet! I assume, this movement produced by a brand of LVMH. We all know that LV is a brand of LVMH Group, and this group have some watches manufacturers :) And I found my answer.

Tambour XL Spin Time Automatic is produced by unknown watch manufacturer or Louis Vuitton has a new division for watch manufacturing. If so, with this ambition LV can produce a car! Would I buy? Of course not! I would like to know who is making this watch, if I am going to pay € 30,000

If they could produce an automatic watch with their staff, they can produce anything! An automatic watch is one of the most complicated and sophisticated piece on earth. And making it working for long years is the key point! I won't be shocked to see a car with LV engine!

Renault's Hip Hop Bag

Pushing the limits of design, in terms of creativity sometimes cause terrible products. In terms of design, Renault is one of the very well respect company for concept cars and terrible at transferring to production. I don’t know how they manage to destroy a concept car in manufacturing process but it should be thought in operations management lecture as a case.

Renault Wind Roadster is a very good example for ugly Renault design. Actually the concept car version was also ugly. Anyway, I never noticed this car on advertisements. There were many in everywhere but the car was looking so weird and it never caught my attention. However it reminded me something very similar to this, Louis Vuitton GĂ©ronimos hip bag. This hip bag has the same characteristics as the Wind Roadster, looks weird and don’t know what to do with it. I have no idea how to use this bag for in men fashion, this product is present under “men” section not “women”.

Wind Roadster shares one more interesting with Ferrari 575 Superamerica. They both share the 180 degree turnable hard top. You just push a button and top of the car moves to top of the boot. In Ferrari, there was not cover and when you want to close your top, you will have the bird poo inside your side. Hopefully Renault did place a cover to prevent this unpleasant experience. Still Wind Roadster is ugly and probably it will disappear after end of its life-cycle.

Which will extend more? Porsche vs. Louis Vuitton

Car and fashion brands share similar symptoms in terms of marketing. They all try to charge more for with new products, prices are over-priced and they love to extend the product line. When it comes to product line extension nobody can compete with Porsche 911 range. Thanks to Porsche AG, 911 is the most extended car line on earth. Now there are 20 different 911s, I know that each model is targeting some particular customer group. Each car expresses a different feeling and etc, etc, etc. Basically, Porsche has lots of potential customers and Porsche does not wish to lose them :) So they introduce every kind of 911 to catch each niche segment. Actually they are pretty good at this though! Even though I don’t like it in terms of emotions but it works well to generate cash.

I noticed the same thing with Louis Vuitton also, they have lots of hand bags. Come one they do the same thing! And some of them are really ugly and expensive, who is buying those things !?! I am sure if I ask LV or anyone interested in fashion will give very good reason for each bag like reasons for twenty different 911s. From the LV perspective; whatever you do, do it with LV bag! Reasonable and good strategy and turn product range into mass :)

In my opinion the best 911 is the Turbo and the best LV is the suitcase :)

Mini the Mini: I don't want anymore new Minis!!!!!

Mini became very aggressive to extend its product range like a handbag company. Their aim is to make more money, more cars and more dullness. Actually dullness is very subjective for Mini. For many people, Mini is something really special like an iPhone but they don’t know why they buy it. Mini is the best handling small car on market with independent rear suspension and communicative steering wheel, but who care? I guess only twenty percentage of the current owners pay attention to these details and the rest is a consequence of popular culture. Therefore I compare Mini with handbag brands.

Instead of being exclusive, Mini decided to offer anything kind of weird vehicle. With the last innovation Mini Countryman, they shifted into a new level of craziness. I think these creative ideas are coming from Germany, BMW HQ. British brands are not obsessed with extension this much.

Extending vehicle range like extending handbag range, helps to generate more money but also helps to ignore your core values. For instance, Mini as a size! But with Countryman, the small SUV of Mini is far beyond mini size. That’s a huge SUV for Mini and introduced with the urgency to eat the market share before Range Rover Evoque arrives next summer.

I thought this very creative marketing strategy ends up with Countryman but noooo! Mini is planning to introduce more interesting vehicles; two doors Countryman and a three seated city Mini. I really wonder what was the aim of current Mini? Did not market it as a small city car? And now you will introduce a Mini for city.

I really wonder where you have these ideas to introduce really “interesting” vehicles like these. Which expensive marketing report is suggesting that, there are some people on earth who don’t like current Mini and found it big and they want to have a city Mini with three seats! If you ever read this blog please let me know through the email button in the right hand corner.

As Mini introduces more “interesting” vehicles, it will be become a more senseless brand. Good thing is, you will be marketing lecture books as an adverse example!

The undercovered Mini will be revealed in London on 23rd of September at London Design Festival and BMW design will be there. Don't miss it ;)
